Gardner of Newcastle Cape Rifle. Gardner was a first class gun maker who worked in Newcastle Upon Tyne another two top gun makers who served their apprenticeship under him were Richard Burnand and William Greener who later finished his apprenticeship under Manton.

Richard Burnand, an English gunsmith born in 1806 at Newcastle Upon Tyne Northumberland England. He served his apprenticeship with the well known gunmaker John Gardner whose business was located at Collingwood St ,Newcastle. He came through his apprenticeship and worked for Gardner and later became his foreman and then in 1840 became successor to the business and traded at 11 Pilgrim St Newcastle.

Approx 28 Bore shotgun. Approx 28 Bore 12 groove fast twist rifle barrel.Fully engraved with hunting scenes. Very unusually shaped trigger guard. 29 ½” Damascus barrels. In excellent condition.
