A very rare BSA Tippins sight for the Long Lee Enfield and the SMLE. This sight was produced in 1909 and has the 1908 and 1909 ‘Pending Patent’ numbers engraved on the side. The patents were granted in 1910 so this sight can be positively dated to 1909. It can be used as a precision sight, but can also be tipped to one side allowing use of the rifles own rear sight to be used. Stamped on top of the sight are the words BSA Parker. On the side mountings are the patent details : BSA Tippins P.PAT 24953-08 and 22619-09. This sight is also fitted with a Parker Hale PH62 6-Hole eyepiece. The sight will fit any ‘Long’ Lee-Enfield and also the SMLE. It is in good mechanical order and does not appear to have been used a lot and retains about 90% of the original blueing, overall very good condition for its age.
