Here is a truly beautiful pistol case formerly owned by William Ewart Gladstone (1809-1898). In a career lasting over sixty years, he served as Prime Minister four times, more than any other person. This was a magnificent cased set of percussion pistols by Dickson of Edinburgh later the property of Holland & Holland. They were displayed on the Holland & Holland stand at the 1966 C.L.A Game Fair and the pistols only were stolen. I have the original Holland & Holland catalogue from 1966 and to put things into perspective, these pistols were the most expensive item in the catalogue at £1,500. Below is the description from the catalogue together with a photo of the complete cased set.

If there is anyone who has any information regarding the whereabouts of these pistols then I would be most grateful if you would contact me.
